HARRISONBURG - These days, Gerald Heatwole feels as up-to-date as his calendar.
"We've finished harvesting our corn and shelled about three-fourths of it, and we have all of our small grains planted," said Heatwole, a dairy and poultry producer from Pineville. "We're right on schedule."
As fall turns to winter, Heatwole and other farmers in the central Shenandoah Valley are looking back at, and ahead to, their work.
