Apparently, the second time was the charm.
With 11,702 votes, Rockingham County residents gave the proposed meals tax a green light Tuesday, allowing the county to add a 4 percent levy to restaurant checks.
Although more than 10,000 people voted against the tax, the measure passed with 53 percent of the vote.
